Job Description: The University of South Carolina Upstate will be reclassifying its athletics department to NCAA Division I-AAA beginning with the 2007-08 school year.
Responsible for the overall administration and success of the student athletes within these programs.
1) Recruiting: This function serves as the primary means to establish a competitive team.
2) Budgeting: monitoring and planning the use of the scholarship and operational budgets (phones, recruiting, team travel, awards, equipment, printing, postage, maintenance, officials and membership dues.)
3) Coaching: motivaton, teaching skill instruction, organization of practices to promote top performance.
4) Team travel: coordination of scheduling contests, making arrangements for transportation, meals and lodging for the travel party.
5) Additional responsibities as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
*Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of college coaching and/or playing experience at the college level in track and field/cross country.
*Proof of valid driver's license and good driving record.
*Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Job Summary: Candidate will provide assistance to the Track/Cross Country Head Coach with recruiting student-athletes, making initial contacts, performing evaluations and on/off campus recruiting.
Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach with cross country and track student-athletes, observing and evaluating performance and demonstrating proper techniques.
Additional duties will include evaluating and recruiting high school and junior college prospects; assisting in monitoring the academic performance and social development of student-athletes; assisting in maintaining student-athletes' discipline and development programs; assisting with administrative assignments including budget and travel; assisting with fundraising and promotion for the cross country and track & field programs; and transporting prospects and student-athletes to events and competition.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of coaching experience at the highschool level or above. Successful experience as a graduate assistant or intern in an athletic program is acceptable for up to one year of the required experience.
Knowledge of recruiting student-athletes, maintaining their discipline and development programs is required.
